From Planning to Goodbye – How Adukrom Hosted the 47th Annual Synod

By Bro Amos Kwabena Ashalley

When Adukrom Circuit was named host of the 47th Annual Synod under the episcopal leadership of The Rt. Rev. Dennis Joseph Boadu, it felt like both a privilege and a mountain. Synod is not just a meeting of delegates. It is a spiritual convocation, a Methodist gathering, and, as we discovered, a catalyst for community transformation.

Planning: Prayer Met Spreadsheets

Work began in October 2025 under the chairmanship of The Very Rev. Kwadwo Agyenim Boateng. We formed workable committees including: Prayer, Sponsorship, Accommodation, Food, Accommodation, Publicity and Media, Protocol and Security, Health and Sanitation. Teachers became project managers, market women became caterers, and our youth ran media like pros. Every Thursday, we met, prayed and planned. That rhythm set the tone: God first, logistics next.

The Rally: Announcing Our Presence

On Saturday, 11th April 2026, we took to the streets with the Synod Rally. Led by the host Superintendent Minister, The Very Rev. Kwadwo Agyenim Boateng, the brass band and members marched through Adukrom, singing and inviting the town to worship with us. That rally was Adukrom’s public “yes” to hosting. Shop owners paused to dance, children joined the procession, and by sunset, everyone knew: the Methodist family had come to town.

Arrival: A Town Awake

By Thursday, 16th April, Adukrom had changed clothes. Streets were swept, homes opened, and over 300 delegates, observers, and traders arrived to sit under the leadership of The Rt. Rev. Dennis Joseph Boadu. The members' enthusiasm was our first miracle. Singing Bands rehearsed till 9 pm, not by duty but by joy. When the Church moves, the next generation moves with her.

Fellowship and Refreshing: The Safari Valley Trip

Ministry was not all meetings and deliberations. Delegates took a break with a trip to Safari Valley. After sight-seeing and bonding in God’s creation, members were treated to dinner with a live performance by the Adukrom Circuit Choir. It was fellowship at its finest, laughter, testimony, and hymns under the stars. That evening reminded us: rest is also spiritual, and joy is strength for the journey. Nehemiah 8:10

Transformation: Beyond the Walls

One lasting legacy is physical. In preparing to host, the circuit renovated Christ the King Chapel and its washrooms — a gift to generations yet unborn. One chief told me, “The Church did not just come to talk; you came to touch.” True transformation is when Christ’s body leaves a place better than we found it.

Economics: Mission Meets the Market

For four days, Adukrom experienced “Kingdom Commerce.” Guest houses were full. Food vendors sold out daily, including those selling dresses and church materials. Transport operators, printers, decorators, and even young porters earned honest income. The real testimony was dignity. Sis Linda Offei, a spring rolls seller, said, “This week, I was not just selling; I was serving the Church.” Synod proved that holiness and enterprise belong together.

Goodbye: Tears and a Task

Sunday, 19th April, was goodbye — but not an ending. As The Rt. Rev. Dennis Joseph Boadu pronounced the benediction, buses left with joy and phone numbers. More importantly, they carried the story of a small town that hosted big grace. Our members wept from fulfilment, not exhaustion. The Singing Band’s final “Monnyae ne na mento me nnwom nea Ewurade aye dɔɔso” was less a song and more a vow.

The Lesson

Adukrom hosted the 47th Annual Synod, but in truth, the Synod hosted us. It exposed our weaknesses and revealed our strength. When the Church plans prayerfully, serves cheerfully, and welcomes generously, society is transformed, businesses are blessed, and members rediscover their first love.

From planning to goodbye, we learned this: Synod is not an event we survive; it is a mission we steward. By God’s grace, Adukrom is better because the Methodist family came to town.

To God be the glory, great things He has done
